DANIEL ELLSBERG
Daniel Ellsberg (born April 7, 1931) is a former American military analyst employed by the RAND Corporation who precipitated a national uproar in 1971 when he released the Pentagon Papers, the US military's account of activities during the Vietnam War, to The New York Times. The release awakened the American people to how much they had been deceived by their own government about the war.
Later life
Daniel Ellsberg has continued as a political activist, giving lecture tours and speaking out about current events. Recently he garnered criticism from the George W. Bush administration for praising Katharine Gun and calling on others to leak any papers that reveal deception regarding the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Daniel Ellsberg also testified in 2004 at the conscientious objector hearing of Camilo Mejia at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

I talked to Dick Gregory briefly, and I asked him if he still remembers the time when he joined with John & Yoko for the bed-in in Montreal. He said yes, and also told me that British Radio station, BBC, contacted him recently and asked him if he remembers a book he gave John Lennon which motivated him to write a song, "IMAGINE". And Dick said it was a book of imagination or prayer or something like that. When I listened to him saying that, I thought, of course, the song "IMAGINE" was similarly inspired by Yoko's book "Grapefruit" as well. Anyway, it was great to finally meet Dick Gregory!
PLAYBOY:
We talked a lot about the meaning of 'Imagine'. What inspired the song?LENNON:
Dick Gregory gave Yoko and me a little kind of prayer book. It is in the Christian idiom, but you can apply it anywhere. It is the concept of positive prayer. If you want to get a car, get the car keys. Get it? 'Imagine' is saying that. If you can imagine a world at peace, with no denominations of religion - not without religion but without this my-God-is-bigger-than-your-God thing - then it can be true. The song was originally inspired by Yoko's book Grapefruit. Yoko actually helped a lot with the lyrics, but I wasn't man enough to let her have credit for it.Playboy interview, By David Sheff / September 8-28, 1980
